Olive is, without a doubt, one of the best daughters sired by Jolimont 2 Peruvian Alpamayo. She proved herself in the show ring consistently placing as a juvenile and yearling and winning a coveted Supreme Female Championship in 2005.
In 1995, Pat Viceconte and his team, Dr. Walter Bravo (Peru), Dr. Rufino Quilla (Peru), William Coburn (USA) and Hernan Gomez (Peru) selected alpacas from the leading breeders in Peru: Accoyo, Alianza and Sollocota. Olive's sire Alpamayo was sourced from the Sollocota herd, while her dam, Jolimont 2 Peruvian Olivia came from the Accoyo herd. In turn, Olive's sire and dam were imported to Canada by Hans Buhrmann.
Alpamayo has and continues to have an incredible impact on the Canadian national herd. The Sollocota herd he originates from in Peru is well known for their consistency in crimp, fineness and density. In Australia, Alpamayo is registered and known as Jolimont Bravo. Prior to being imported to Canada, Alpamayo sired progeny in Australia most notable being Jolimont Trovatello of Traron Alpacas (owned by respected judge, Bill Robbins).
Olive's dam was an import from the Accoyo herd.
