Description
Armani’s Sterling Silverstar, a full Peruvian proven herdsire, was bred in the successful grey program of Jim and Linda Stark’s Alpacas of the Ark. Sterling’s sire is Our Peruvian Giorgio Armani of River Bluff Alpacas, a Rose Grey, winner of multiple 1st's and Championships, as well as three Get of Sires, who was out of Royal Inca Legend. His dam, Ark’s Expresso’s Ruth, a Silver Grey, has Accoyo Express and Nic Nac in her background.
Coming from such a strong grey background, Sterling should be a consistent producer of grey progeny. Even his black maternal great grandmother always produces grey when bred to grey. His sire, Our Peruvian Giorgio Armani, is a consistent producer of grey and rose grey and his maternal side has a strong presence for grey.
Sterling offers a dense, consistent fleece, long staple length, size and great conformation. His fiber stats continue to be in the low 20’s for average fiber diameter, about a 4 standard deviation, low % over 30 microns, all of which have been in the top 6th percentile of EDP results for the last three years! Sterling's fleece took a close 2nd in his class at the 2010 AOBA Nationals.
During his show career, Sterling was always in the "mix", including a 1st and multiple 2nds, and a Reserve Championship from Amanda Vanden Bosch at the 2011 Spring Bling show in Neenah, WI. At a show in Spring '13, the judge stated that Sterling "was a fine example of what a herdsire should be".
So, if you’re looking for a herdsire with great genetics, great fiber, solid grey background as well as size, personality and the bonus of a full Peruvian heritage, look no further!
